How much mess and disruption is there?

Less than you'd think. Scaffold goes up a few days before, the install itself usually takes one to two days, and most of the work happens outside. Power is off for a short period while we connect the inverter.

South, east or west facing roofs with decent sunlight usually work well. North-facing or heavily shaded roofs usually don't, and we'll tell you if that's the case. The free survey settles it either way.

What warranty do I get?

Panels typically carry a 25-year performance warranty and inverters around 10 years, both from the manufacturer, and our own workmanship is guaranteed for 2 years on top of that. Exact terms depend on the kit you choose, and everything is set out in writing in your quote.

How long from quote to switched on?

Typically 4 to 6 weeks from accepting the quote, depending on scaffold and DNO approval. It varies job to job, but we give you a date and stick to it.

Do I need planning permission?

Usually not. Most home solar in Enfield falls under permitted development. Listed buildings and conservation areas are the exception, and we'll flag it at the survey if yours is affected.

Straight answers to the usual questions

It depends on the size of the system and your roof. As a guide, a typical home system lands somewhere between £6,000 and £10,000 fitted, with battery storage adding more on top. Every property is different, though, so we won't quote off an average. The survey is free and the quote is fixed, so you'll know your exact number before deciding anything.

When solar isn't right for you

We'd rather lose a job than fit panels that won't pay for themselves. Solar is probably not worth it if:

Your roof faces north

North-facing roofs get a fraction of the sunlight. The payback period stretches out and the numbers rarely work.

Your roof sits in heavy shade

Big trees or taller buildings blocking the sun most of the day will cut your output badly. Panels can't fix shade.

You're planning to move soon

Solar pays back over years. If you're selling in the next couple of years, you may not see the benefit.

Your roof needs work first

If the roof is due replacement, fix that first. Taking panels off and on again costs money that's better spent once.
